University of Washington Arboretum Field Trip

My class (The Coho Room) at the Bridge School had it's first field trip last Tuesday.  My parents came along too as chaperons.  My friend Andy rode with us in the car.  We were one of the first to get to the Graham Center, so my Dad took us off to the side so that Andy & I could run around.

    

When everyone else arrived, our Guide found us.  She had us drop all of our backpacks in the greenhouse.  We moved on to look at the bees.

I was glad that the bees were at a distance.

I had a hard time focusing on what the group was doing.  Then it started to rain.  The grown ups all made sure that we had our coats on.

We looked at steaming compost.  I wasn't overly excited.  We moved further into the park, where the guide had a game for us.  We found a partner.  We blindfolded that partner and we lead them around to a tree.  Our partners were supposed to smell, feel the tree.  They were then lead back to the picnic table, where the blindfold was removed, and then our partner's had to find their tree.  

Andy was my partner, he took me on a long walk!  I did eventually find my tree.

Andy found his tree too.  The rain seemed to be falling harder.  The guide has us follow her further into the arboretum.

It was a very lovely place.  Then we heard thunder!  The guide wanted to take us back to the buildings.  Chris a Dad, looked on his smart phone.  Thunderstorm cells were close.  As we walked back to the buildings.  Lightning flashed across our heads!  It was all very exciting, and disappointing that we had to go back indoors.

We came to a small office where we talked about trees.  Eventually we sifted through dirt.  I found Mom and told her that I was bored.  It was too bad that we happened to be under a thunderstorm.  Eventually we ate our lunches and took one last picture of the class.

We all went back to school.

Brick Con 2013

For some reason, we did not attend this event last year...but I was happy to go again.  Mom, Dad, and I left our house early Sunday morning.  We found street parking and walked over to Exhibition Hall in Seattle Center.  There were hardly any lines!  We strolled right in to see the magic.

 I found some Minecraft characters: the cow, pig and the zombie.  Nice!

There were lots of "Lord of the Rings"scenes.  Fortunately, I am familiar with the story because Mom and I have played the Lego Xbox game.  The first scene was "Helm's Deep".

Then there was Hobbiton.....

I got really good at squeezing through people to see things.  There was also "Rivendell"

The detail was amazing!

My parents found this funny.  It was a Lady Gaga concert.  The dancers and Lady G on stage all moved.  It was very clever.

Mom remembered this builder, Alice Finch, from two years ago.  She started building Hogwart's School.  She had really added to the original school.  Her level of detail was incredible.

Mom was happy to see some impressive scenes built by women.  Here is another...a monastery built in the Himalayas.

Buy this time, the $20 of spending money that I had was burning a hole in my pocket and wanted to go to the Lego market place.

I can't eat WHAT?!!!!!! IBS Treatment Center and Center for Food Allergies

Earlier this year, my Dad got confirmation from this clinic that he has several food allergies.  My parents decided to take me and have me tested to see if I had similar allergies.    I gave blood mid August and the results came last week.  My parents decided to meet with Dr. Baker for a consultation. 

 It turns out that I have more allergies than my Dad!  I can no longer eat wheat, dairy, eggs, soy, and pineapple.  It will be a change.  My parents keep asking me to try new things.  The hardest thing to give up will be dairy.  I really love milk and Annie's Mac & Cheese.

First Grade- First Day

I started at the Bridge School on Tuesday, September 3rd.  I was excited to get back to school.  This year, I have Teacher Christie.

 The first day of school this year was gloomy.  It had been raining, that's why this picture looks so grey.

 Here is my teacher.  I know Christie from last year.

I told Mom that I would see her later, and that I was totally fine.

With my cousins Jack & Gavin in town, my family and I went to Seattle Center on Sunday.

First Stop on the Seattle tour-Pike Place Market!  The pig was the best part.  I found the market crowded and boring.  Jack was in a good mood, but cousin Gavin was grumpy.  Even on the pig!

We bought tickets for the Space Needle.  We had to wait a half hour until we could go up.  Uncle Colin took pictures of us in front of the EMP.

It was a good sunny day to go up on the Space Needle.

To get to the elevators-you have to walk up a spiral ramp.  There's Mom, me and Dad way in the back wearing the bright blue shirt.

It was a lot of fun on top!  I could see islands, cruise ships, trucks, buildings, & ferries!

Afterwards, we got to climb on a sculpture.  It was a little high for my taste.

Then off to the fountain!!!  Jack & I had a blast!

Dad bought me some cotton candy.  It was so much fun.
