Goodbye First Grade!

 On the last day of the Bridge School  the kids were playing out in the play area.  Either Teacher Christie or Teacher Andrea was out watching the kids.  The other teacher came out and gave the outdoor teacher a hug.  All the kids then ran to the teachers and hugged them!  (you can see my back-I am wearing the purple shirt and the blue star shorts.)

  Mom was parked in front of the school finishing a hat for Malia, saw this event and took pictures.  Afterwards she dropped and broke her camera!

Golden Birthday!

I turned seven on the 7th!

(I should look happier!)  I had my party at the Tag Zone again in Des Moines.  My friends and I love this place.  Mom made everyone a nerf gun T-shirt as a take away gift.

Here are all the players and the Dad's that participated. (Only 3 mom's showed!)  It was a real man party!

Dad and I got hit, so we are sitting out waiting for the next round.

A quick happy birthday, a snack, and then back on the floor to shoot each other!

The two hours went by too quickly.

I opened Andy's present in the parking lot.

He gave me a punch card tot he tag zone and a journal for writing.  (I love to write.) It was a really fun party, but my parents and I came home tired.

Competition Day 2014

 Competition Day happens once a year at the Goju Karate dojo. It is an all day event.  I signed up for 4 events but was listed in all of them.  We came at 9:00am.  My group had to wait for the older kids to finish the fitness competition.  In our down time we ate and played our Nintendo DS's.

Sempai Aiden (Sensei's son) was my counter.  I had to do push ups, sit ups, jumps....

Run a race.  I came in first and won the gold medal in my age bracket!

I also did paddle pads,

and flag sparring.  I lasted until 2 o'clock and I was done.  I missed several events that I really like to do.  Mom said that next year we will arrive at noon and stay until it finishes. 

First Grade Portrait

Our school pictures were taken really late this year on April 30th.  It happened to be the warmest day of day 2014, so I did NOT wear one of Mom's sweaters.  I decided to wear a bow tie because I wanted to look my best.  Mom tried talking me out of it, but I found one on my dance costume....

Tillicum Village

The older kids at my school studied native Americans last fall.  This field trip came from that, fortunately, the whole school was invited!  Mom and I carpooled with Teacher Andrea and her Family.  We were at Pier 55 forty minutes before the boat left.

 Forty minutes was a little too long.  I am behind my classmate in the orange shirt.  The sun was too bright!  Finally we got to board the boat!

Once on the boat, actors did a native American story for us about salmon.  We also learned that there are 296 islands in Puget Sound and in some places the Sound is over 1000 ft deep.

I liked being on a boat!  We went out of Elliot Bay onto Puget Sound.  It was a lot of fun.

We made it to Blake Island.  Supposedly this is where Chief Seattle was born .We got off the boat and walk into the Long House.

 Our hosts were smoking salmon in the traditional native American way!  Cool.

We got a traditional meal with mac and cheese.....the mac and cheese must have been because of all the kids.....I am allergic to both wheat and dairy.  Bummer.  It looked good.  After eating there was a show with more stories, costumes, masks, and dancing.  When that was over, I wanted

play on the really old play ground.  Mom and I had to chose our steps wisely to get to this area because it was covered in Canadian Goose poo!  Andy came out and I had a lot of fun.

Mom took this picture toward Vashon Island.  Mt. Rainier was hazy in the background.  Unfortunately her camera wasn't sensitive enough to pick it up!

Before we went, Mom took a lot of pictures of me in front of totem poles.

We got back on the boat and headed for downtown Seattle.  I had a good time.

We docked next to the big wheel.  Tomorrow we go to the local Farmer's Market.

The Museum of Flight

On Friday, most of the school met up at the Museum of Flight.

 While waiting for everyone to show up, we played tag under an airplane.

 We had to get stamped...

 and listen to some guy talk about the museum (this is always my least favorite part).

 Our group went to go look at the Space Shuttle mock up.  Real astronauts trained on this.

 We are standing in the cargo bay.

 We got to go on an old Air Force 1 (Kennedy/Nixon era).

 And a Concord.  I didn't find this interesting.

 The Space section was fun.

 In the mock space station, we got to look down at the earth.

Mom and I went to go look at the WW2 airplanes.  Overall, I had a lot of fun.
